It's just that the writing always seems to lean more toward the intellectual and feel good aspects while ignoring the real issues just about every time something comes up that's really worth digging into. The book also has potential from the moment we learn why Harry's so damaged on both inside and out. The Scar Boys, the band, have potential and you're left wondering just how much by the end. Well, things are looking up until things start going wrong. Things are looking up for Harry's band, The Scar Boys. He learns guitar and they find a bass player and a drummer. Then Johnny says they should start a band, so, of course Harry says yes. Harry basically tries to hide until popular kid Johnny takes notice of him. Len Vlahos makeshis debut with this coming of age story about Harry Jones, a kid with physical and mental scars.
